Open House at Sunset Valley Orchids, Dec. 2019

There was a lot of activity in the greenhouse that houses Fred's collection of Catasetum, Cycnoches and Clowesia.  There were a lot of plants in bloom, and customers seemed fascinated by these very exotic-looking orchids.  To see so many plants in bloom was a real treat.  I managed to pull myself away,  after spending a good half-hour there, in order to look thru the other greenhouses.  Fred is known for his compact Cattleya hybrids, and he had some new varieties that I had to explore.  I picked up several to take home, in yellow and orange.  I doubled back to the Catasetum greenhouse, and ended up choosing a Ctsm. Double Down "XDPXL' x Ctsm. tigrinum 'Very Wide Petals'  to add to my orchid collection.  A very successful shopping trip, I would say.
